Terms of Use
The rules for using DeafHive and for submitting listings to the directory. Please read them before you use the site.
Last updated: 19 June 2026
About these terms
DeafHive is a community directory at deafhive.online, operated by SigningWorks (“SigningWorks”, “we”, “us”) — the organisation ultimately responsible for the site. By using the site or submitting a listing, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Using the site
You may use DeafHive to find and share information about Deaf organisations, events and BSL videos. You agree not to:
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms others or the service;
- submit false, misleading, offensive, infringing or unlawful content;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its admin area or its systems;
- scrape, copy or harvest the directory at scale, or disrupt the site (for example with automated requests).
The directory information
Listings are submitted by members of the community and published after review. We take reasonable care, but we can’t guarantee that every listing is accurate, complete or up to date, and a listing isn’t an endorsement or recommendation. Always check important details with the organisation directly. If you spot something wrong, please tell us (see Reporting a problem).
Submitting a listing
When you submit an organisation, event or video, you confirm that:
- the information is accurate and you’re entitled to share it;
- you have the right to submit any logo, image or link you include, and to let us display it (for example, you own it or have the owner’s permission);
- the content isn’t unlawful, infringing, defamatory, misleading or offensive.
You keep ownership of what you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, display and adapt your submission (for example, light formatting) on DeafHive and in connection with promoting the directory.
We review every submission. We may edit, decline, or remove any listing at our discretion — for example if it’s inaccurate, breaches these terms, or is no longer relevant.
Reporting a problem or asking for removal
If a listing is inaccurate, out of date, infringes your rights, or shouldn’t be there, please contact us at community@signingworks.co.uk with the details. We’ll review it and take appropriate action, which may include correcting or removing the listing. If you’re the subject of a listing and want it changed or taken down, just let us know.
Intellectual property
The DeafHive name, branding, design and the site itself belong to us or our licensors. Logos, images and other content belonging to listed organisations remain the property of their respective owners. Don’t reuse anything from the site without permission, except where the law allows.
Links to other sites
DeafHive links to external websites (such as listed organisations and YouTube). We’re not responsible for the content, accuracy or practices of those sites — when you follow a link, their own terms and privacy notices apply.
Our responsibility to you
We provide DeafHive free of charge and do our best to keep it available, accurate and secure, but we provide it “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on a listing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law. The information on DeafHive is general information, not professional advice.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the “last updated” date shows when. These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England & Wales.
